Fieldpost Mail for the Austro-Hungarian Navy

The Navy was based at Pola on the Istrian Penninsular. There were a large number of ships, each of which had identifying cachets and/or postmarks. This ‘Marinefeldpost’ card is from a sailor on the S.M.S. Spalato, a destroyer based in Pola, but transferred to the depot ship S.M.S. Adria where it was censored and datestamped with the Adria’s own mark, and then put into the mail to Budapest.
